The SAFE Place

Message to Students

Due to the on-going public health crisis cause by the Covid-19 virus, the SAFE Place will be modifying the services it provides to the SFSU community in accordance with the safety measures put into place by the University and the San Francisco Department of Health.

All advocacy services will be provided through appropriate telebehavioral health methods including telephone and zoom video calls. Current SAFE Place clients who are in need of support are encouraged to reach out directly to Stacy via e-mail to schedule an appointment. New clients in need of support should reach out via telephone (415-338-2208) to schedule.

A few important things to keep in mind when scheduling a telebehavioral health appointment.

  • Your confidentiality can only be kept if you are in a secure quiet, private place to have the call/video chat. The SAFE Place cannot ensure your confidentiality if you are in a public space or someone else is in the room with you.
  • Your safety matters! If you share space with the perpetrator, telebehavioral health may not be a safe option for you at this time. Alternatives can be explored through reaching out to local crisis lines. See a list of resources here.
  • If you are experiencing a serious mental health emergency, telebehavioral health is not an appropriate level of care. Please utilize the national suicide hotline at 1-800-273-8255, or go to your nearest emergency room.
